Getting started
What is Waybe?
Waybe is a home-improvement marketplace. You build your project online, get an estimate, choose your materials and contractor, sign, schedule, and pay — then track everything and message your project team in one place.
See How it works for a step-by-step walkthrough.
What kinds of projects can I start on Waybe?
The services currently available are listed on the Services page — pick one to start a project. The list grows as we add services, so if you don't see what you need, contact us.
Is Waybe available where I live?
Waybe is offered in the United States. Whether we can take on your project depends on your address and on contractor availability near you. The quickest way to find out is to start a project and enter your address, or contact us.
Do I need an account?
You'll need a Waybe account to save your project, sign your estimate, schedule, and pay. You can create one with your email and a password, or sign in with Google. You must be at least 18 to use Waybe.
What is the Waybe assistant?
Waybe includes an AI assistant that can answer questions, help you find your way around, and help you make selections for your project. Look for “Ask Waybe” on your project.
AI-generated answers, estimates, and measurements can be inaccurate or incomplete, so please review them before relying on them, and don't share sensitive information such as government ID or financial account numbers with the assistant. Details are in our Privacy Policy (Section 4).
Estimates & pricing
How does Waybe work out my estimate?
When you start a project, you answer a few questions about your home and the work you want. For roofing, we measure your roof — from your address using aerial imagery, from a measurement report you upload, or from a roof size you enter. Then you choose materials and a contractor.
You'll see an approximate estimate early on, and it becomes more accurate as you add details.
Is the estimate I see online my final price?
Not always. The approximate estimate is a starting point, and automated measurements can be off. Your project may be reviewed before your detailed estimate is ready to sign. The detailed estimate you sign is the one your project goes ahead on.
What does the estimate include?
Your detailed estimate breaks the price down into materials, labor, tax on materials, any discounts, and the Waybe fee, so you can see where the money goes before you sign.
Does Waybe charge a fee?
Yes. The Waybe fee is listed as its own line on your estimate, so you'll see the amount before you sign or pay. Fees are covered in Section 4 of our Terms and Conditions.
Can I change my selections after I get an estimate?
Before you sign, yes — update your materials or other details and your estimate updates with them. After you sign, any change to the scope of work or the price has to be agreed by both you and your contractor (see Section 4 of the Terms and Conditions). Message your project team to get started.
Can I use an insurance claim to pay for my project?
Yes. At checkout, choose to pay by insurance and upload your claim document. Waybe reads it and shows how much of your project may be covered, and the Waybe assistant can help if you haven't filed a claim yet.
Your insurance company decides what it covers. Waybe can't guarantee any claim outcome.
Contractors
How do I choose a contractor?
While you set up your project, Waybe shows you the contractors available for it, each with a starting price based on your project's size. You choose one, and they're added to your estimate.
Are contractors licensed and insured?
Licensing and insurance rules depend on your state and the type of work. If you want to see a contractor's credentials before you sign, ask your project team in project chat or contact us.
Who provides the warranty on my work and materials?
Product and workmanship warranties come from the manufacturer and the contractor who does the work, not from Waybe. Our Terms and Conditions (Section 8) say that Waybe gives no warranty on third-party products and services. Ask your project team for the warranty documents for your project.
What information does my contractor see?
Your contractor, installers, and suppliers get what they need to do the work, such as your name, contact details, address, project details, measurements, material selections, uploaded documents, and project chat messages. See Section 3 of our Privacy Policy.
Payments & escrow
How do I pay?
At checkout you can pay directly by card or bank transfer (ACH), or pay with an insurance claim. Payments are processed by Stripe. Waybe doesn't store your full card number or bank login on its servers.
Can I pay in parts?
Yes. At checkout you can split your payment and pay part now and the rest later. Checkout shows the minimum due now. Full payment is required before your project begins.
What happens to my money after I pay?
Money you pay in advance for products and work from third parties (such as contractors and suppliers) is held as escrow funds. Waybe holds them in a separate account in your name, as a trust fund, and releases them only as your order and our Terms and Conditions allow (Section 4).
When does my contractor get paid?
Under Section 4 of the Terms and Conditions, escrow funds are released when you confirm in writing that the products or work were delivered and accepted in full. If you and your contractor agree to change the scope or price, funds can also be released on written instructions signed by both of you.
Can I get a refund?
If something's wrong with your project, contact us or report an issue from Support before you confirm the work is accepted. Refund requests are handled under our Terms and Conditions. Ending your agreement with Waybe doesn't by itself make fees that were already due refundable (Section 11).
Where can I see what I've paid?
Go to Settings → Billing & Transactions to see your payments, how much you've paid, and each payment's status.
Your project & communication
How do I track my project?
Open My projects to see every project and its status, from setup and approval through signing, scheduling, and installation. Each project page shows your estimate, your selections, and the next step.
How do I sign my estimate?
Once your estimate is approved, you sign it electronically through DocuSign without leaving Waybe. After you sign, you can schedule your installation.
How do I schedule or reschedule installation?
After you sign your estimate, choose your installation dates from your project. To change them, go back to the schedule step and pick new dates. Dates depend on your contractor's availability.
How do I contact my project team?
Use Messages to chat with your project manager and the Waybe team about your project. You'll also get updates by email, and by push notification if you've turned them on in our mobile app.
Something went wrong — how do I report it?
Go to Support to report an issue and follow its status (Open, In Review, Resolved, and so on) while our support team works on it. For anything else, contact us.
What if I disagree with my contractor or with Waybe?
Raise it with your project team or through Support first — most problems are fixed that way. Disputes under our Terms and Conditions (Section 13) go through good-faith negotiation first, then mediation, and then binding arbitration if needed.
Where are my project documents?
Go to Settings → Documents to see and upload project documents such as measurement reports, insurance papers, and receipts (PDF, PNG, or JPG).
Account & privacy
How do I update my details?
Go to Settings to change your name, phone number, and property address. For anything you can't change there, contact us.
Does Waybe sell my personal information?
No. We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as described in our Privacy Policy, for example with the contractors, installers, and suppliers working on your project, and with service providers such as our payment processor.
How do I access or delete my data?
Depending on your state, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Email privacy@waybe.ai with the subject line “Privacy Rights Request.” We'll need to verify your identity first. See Section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
How do I close my account?
Contact us and we'll help. Closing your account is covered in Section 11 of our Terms and Conditions, and some project, signature, and payment records may be kept afterwards where the law requires (Privacy Policy, Section 7).
Can I stop marketing emails and notifications?
Yes. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, and turn off push notifications in your device settings. We'll still send service messages about your account and projects.
For installers
How do I join Waybe as a contractor or installer?
See Join as an installer for what to expect, or create your partner account in the Waybe service portal.
Where do installers manage their jobs?
Contractors and installers use the Waybe service portal, which is separate from the customer site. That's where they manage their projects and talk with customers and the Waybe team.
How do installers get paid?
Customers pay through Waybe, and payments for the work are held in escrow until the customer confirms it was delivered and accepted, as described in Section 4 of our Terms and Conditions. For partner pricing and payout details, get in touch.
